Brief details of the Phase III Refinery Project
The objective of this project having an investment out lay of Rs.12,160 Crore is as follows :
- Expansion of Capacity by adding additional 3 MMTPA crude processing
- Up-gradation of low value products to high value products.
- To process cheaper/opportunity crudes ( Sour/ Heavy & High TAN crudes)
- Production of petrochemical feed stocks Viz. Propylene.
- Maximize distillate yield.
- Upgrading entire HSD into BS III/IV grade
MRPL is also executing a Polypropylene unit with an investment outlay of Rs.1803.78 Crore having an objective of producing Polypropylene from the Propylene produced in PFCCU, which is a value added product.

Engineers India Limited are the Project Management Consultants for the Phase III Refinery project. M/s. Jacobs Engineering India Ltd. are the EPCM Consultant for CDU/VDU. Following are the major LSTK/OBE contractors.

The Phase III project has interconnections with the existing Phase I & II refinery with respect to Hydrocarbon streams.
The Phase III - refinery project is scheduled to be completed mechanically on 31/10/2011. The Polypropylene unit is scheduled to be mechanically completed on 30-04-2012.

- Propylene - 454 TMT/yr
- Additional LPG - 730 TMT/yr
- Additional HSD - (BS III - 720 TMT/yr & BS IV - 720 TMT/yr)
- Petcoke: 1000 TMT/yr
The project is presently on schedule and expected to be completed as per the schedule.
