MRPL holds Chemicals & Catalyst Vendor Meet : an exercise in good Corporate Governance

Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals Ltd, an ONGC Group Company, held a Chemical & Catalyst Vendor Meet to demystify and facilitate clear understanding of Procurement Procedures, Procurement Cycle, Integrity Pact, Common reasons for rejection of bids, common mistakes made by bidders and also emerging technology-supported procedures like E-auction, E-procurement & ERP

The one-day Vendor Meet was held in MRPL premises and attended by prominent Chemical Suppliers from all over India.

From MRPL, S/Shri P P Upadhya, Sr GM(TS), R R C Chichgar, Sr GM(Ops), K.S.Koppalkar, GMi/c(Materials), Rajan Bhandari GM (Vigilance) etc participated and clarified the entire cycle of requirement to award of tender to policing in an effort to sensitise the market and establish transparency in business processes in MRPL.

5th Year in a row, MRPL receives Appreciation Award

For the 5th consecutive year, Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals Limited, an ONGC Group Company, has been accorded the "Appreciation Award" for outstanding contribution to the Mangalore Commissionerate of Central Excise. MRPL's contribution accounts for 94% of the revenue of the entire Commissionerate and has facilitated the Commissionerate in exceeding FY 2008's target much ahead of time, i.e on 31st January 2008

The Award was received by Group General Manager- Finance, Shri P.S.Ravindran, on behalf of MRPL from Shri Rajasekharan Warrier, Vice Chancellor, Manipal University during The Annual Central Excise Day function was held at Mangalore.

MRPL & Corporation Bank ink pact to provide financial services to retail fuel customers

Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), an ONGC Group Company and a mini ratna I, and Corporation Bank, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to leverage their respective strengths to provide a wholesome bouquet of services to customers in the fuel retail segment. The MoU was signed by Shri B.R.Bhat, General Manager (IT) of Corporation Bank and Shri Sanjay Grover, General Manager (Retail Sales) of MRPL at the Corporation Bank , Mangalore.

Speaking on the occasion Shri B R Bhat announced that Corporation Bank will set up ATMs (any time money) at the MRPL HiQ retail outlets coming up across Karnataka and other Southern States, to provide banking facilities for customers on the move. This would enable the bank to service a larger number of customers without having to bring them into the bank premises. Also on the cards are other value added financial products including co-branded credit and fleet cards, cashless transactions using smart cards for the agricultural community.

Elaborating on the philosophy of MRPL's HiQ, Shri Sanjay Grover, GM (RS) of MRPL said that HiQ stands for the highest quality of fuels and services and the entire experience at the HiQ, right from quality and quantity of the fuels, to dispensing, to monitoring, to house-keeping and the bouquet of services to be provided to the customer, HiQ will reflect this brand promise. The HiQ, launched in Maddur on the Bangalore-Mysore Highway recently, is equipped with state-of-the-art retail automation technology that provides complete control over delivery of right quality and quantity of fuels to customers at all times, houses India's largest Caffe Coffee Day and has the very first Baskin Robbin's outlet on the Bangalore - Mysore highway. "Today's customer knows his/her choices; expect value for money and the best in terms of services. Our focus is on meeting this expectation and this partnership with Corporation bank is one more step in this direction", added Shri Grover.

MRPL, already has the approval from the Government of India to set up a chain of 500 retail outlets across the country. After the successful launch of HiQ at Maddur on the Bangalore-Mysore Highway, HiQ outlets at Hubli and Mangalore are getting ready for commissioning within the current financial year. More outlets will follow in different parts of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh in this phase. The next phase of operations will see HiQ outlets coming up in Goa, Maharashtra and Gujarat as well, apart from expansion of the network in the four southern States.

MRPL begins spadework to breathe new life into Kadri Park

On Valentine's Day, Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals Ltd, (MRPL), shared its offer of flowers to Mangaloreans. With an initial outlay of Rs 60,000,00/- (Rupees sixty lakhs) MRPL will infuse new life into the city's famous Kadri Park. Landscaping and beautification plans are underway; and once implemented MRPL will maintain the premises for 5 years, extendable to 10.

MRPL will maintain the premises for 5 years, extendable to 10. While this is a prestigious project for us , MRPL as an environment caring company does its bit to green the area around us by maintaining parks and ecological sinks, says Shri R Rajamani, MD, MRPL, and Kadri Park is just one of the ways in which we are trying to enrich the community and life in Mangalore.

The total Project is under MRPL's CSR programme Samrakshan.

MRPL and SHELL inks Aviation Joint Venture pact JV effective 1st March 2008

Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), a Miniratna company and an ONGC group company, today signed the Joint Venture Shareholders agreement with Shell.

The JV Company would be incorporated as a private limited company, with initial equity of Rs. 30 Crores. The Registered office and Head office of the JV would be in Bangalore. The JV will be exclusive in nature and both MRPL and Shell will route all their future marketing activities for Aviation Fuelling Service through the JV.

The JV will initially commence marketing of ATF at Bangalore and Hyderabad, and later expand its operations to other airports in India. The JV will refuel foreign aircrafts in Indian airports and will also contract refuelling of Indian aircrafts at foreign airports through Shell affiliates.

The Joint Venture Agreement was signed by MRPL Managing Director Mr. R Rajamani and Vice President Shell Aviation Mr Sjoerd Post, in the presence of Chairman ONGC Group of Companies Shri R S Sharma, and Chairman Shell Group of Companies in India Mr. Vikram S Mehta. The agreement is effective from 1st March 2008.

ONGC CMD and MRPL Chairman Mr. R S Sharma was optimistic that the JV agreement as a major initiative by both companies to cater to the growing Indian Aviation sector that will catalyse the marketing activities of MRPL.

Shell India Country Chairman Mr. Vikram Mehta said, "With huge growth in the civil aviation sector in India it is indeed timely that we are formally joining hands with MRPL, to serve this large market opportunity with our shared values of quality products and excellent service".

Mr R Rajamani, MD, MRPL said if the speed and skill with which the JV has been formalized is any indication, the JV will set new benchmarks in Indian Aviation Service.
