MRPL and Ashok Leyland Group Incorporate JV Company-Shareholders Agreement Signed

MRPL, a subsidiary of India's most valuable company Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and the Ashok Leyland Group have incorporated a Joint Venture Company "Mangalam Retail Services Limited" for creating commercial complexes focussed on the highway-trucking segment.

The joint venture company shall have equity participation of MRPL and Ashok Leyland Projects Services Limited (ALPS). The Shareholders agreement was signed today at New Delhi by Shri R Rajamani, Managing Director, MRPL and Shri V R Pappu, Executive Director, ALPS.

Also present on the occasion were Shri R S Sharma, Chairman and Managing Director, ONGC and Shri L K Gupta, Director (Finance) of MRPL.

The primary purpose of the JV shall be to set up complexes comprising of Retail Outlets for distribution of petroleum products and lubricants and servicing facilities for trucks/buses/commercial vehicles.

Other facilities like bulk lube dispensing and sale of spare parts, dormitories, rest rooms, fast food centres, shopping centres, ATM booths, extension counters etc shall also be included.

The initial paid up equity of the JV Company shall be Rs 50 crore to be subsequently increased to Rs 100 crore.

MRPL signs Performance Contract with ONGC for 2008-09: Ups Deliverables

Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals Ltd, MRPL, an ONGC Group company and a mini ratna I, today inked the Performance Contract for 2008-09 with its principal, ONGC.

One change in the new Performance Contract between MRPL and ONGC has been the inclusion of 3 new parameters in-place of "Product Despatch", viz. (i) Safety, (ii) Recycle of Treated Effluent and (iii) Energy Index. Also the financial ratios in the newly signed Performance Contract between MRPL and ONGC are all higher than those in 2007-08.

In the MoU entered into by ONGC Group with the MoP & NG Government Of India for 2008-09, the weightage of subsidiary management has been enhanced to 10 per cent from 4 per cent earlier. Out of this 10 per cent, MRPL's weightage has been enhanced to 4 per cent from 2 per cent earlier.

The Performance Contract was signed by ONGC's CMD Mr. R S Sharma and MRPL's Managing Director Mr. R Rajamani at ONGC's office at New Delhi on 18th March 2008.

MRPL's Samrakshan programme lives out Commitment to the Community

Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals Ltd, an ONGC Group company and a mini ratna I, under its CSR initiative Samrakshan has once again to make a positive difference to the very young ones of Pragathi Nagara, Madhya Village, the several students of 53 Govt schools around the refinery and 16 schools at Sarpady, and the doctors and patients of Govt Hospital Batwal, all in a week.

"These initiatives carried out last week like the constructing and handing over an Anganwadi building, donating scientific teaching aids, providing infrastructural facilities including cupboards to schools and a heavy duty gen set to the local hospital, are all part of Samrakshan and are continuing activities that live out our commitment to the deserving people and causes in DK" says Shri R Rajamani, Managing Director, MRPL.

In July 2007, Shri S S Hegde, Sr GM (HR) from MRPL had laid the foundation stone for a much needed anganwadi at Pragathi Nagara, Madhya Village. In less than an year, at a simple ceremony held today, the Anganwadi building has been contructed by MRPL and handed over by Shri S S Hedge himself to the inhabitants of Pragathi Nagara in the presence of Shri S K Kadri, DGM (HR)

This function was preceded the previous day by another simple function in the in-patient section of Govt Hospital Bantwal where Shri S K Kadri, MRPL, handed over a DG set 45 KVA & 36 KW Air Cooled Kirloskar Diesel Generator to the District Health Officer Dr. Jagannath and Dr. Sudarshan Nayak, Medical Officer, Govt. Hospital Bantwal.

Also 53 Govt Schools around the MRPL Refinery and 16 Schools in Sarpady were gifted with modern scientific teaching aids like Unilab/Olympus microscope, human evolution chart, physiological system models, mathematical kit etc, for the high school students. These schools and a few more were also provided with steel cupboards and bookshelves as requested by them.

"These exercises cost MRPL around Rupees twenty one lakh, but the value delivered to the community is much more" says Shri S K Kadri, DGM (HR), MRPL who steers Samrakshan.

It maybe recalled that just recently MRPL had donated much needed modern, cutting-edge equipment worth around Rs12,00,000/- to Govt. Lady Goschen Hospital Mangalore on 4th March 2008.
