Top Management of MRPL interacted with the Mangalore Media on 18.07.2016 at Hotel Gold Finch, Mangalore. Shri H Kumar, MD MRPL presented the performance highlights and future plans of MRPL to the media persons. Shri M Venkatesh, Director Refinery enlightened the media about our proposed future projects and Shri A K Sahoo, Director Finance about the financial implication.

 

Media persons in large numbers had gathered for the meeting. They got an opportunity to clarify their doubts about the land acquisition and the future expansion of MRPL. In the end their queries were addressed and the media fraternity left the hall with a positive view on the performance and operations of MRPL.

Some of the highlights of Performance of MRPL in 2015-16 and the Future Plans as shared with the Media are as follows:

• MRPL achieved highest ever throughput of 15.53 MMT during 2015-16.
• Highest ever Diesel (6.491 MMT) and LPG (810 TMT) during the year.
• MRPL made a financial turnaround by achieving a net profit of Rs 1,148 Crore during 2015 – 16.
• MRPL has paid Rs 11,507 Crore as duties & taxes to the Central Government and Rs 949 Crore taxes to the State Government during 2015-16.
• MRPL has achieved a 35% market share in Polypropylene in the South Zone by March 2016.
• As per Supreme Court directive and Auto fuel upgradation policy of Govt of India, MRPL has embarked to upgrade its facilities to produce BS-VI grade MS & HSD by April 2020.
• MRPL is planning to enhance its refining capacity to 18/21 MMTPA with low cost revamp.
• MRPL is also planning to set up Raw Petroleum Coke Gasification Complex to produce SYN GAS and subsequent value added chemicals such as Urea, Acetic Acid, Acryilates and Linear Alkyl Benzene (LAB).
• Govt. of Karnataka has cleared land allocation of 1050 acres for MRPL’s future projects which includes 33% green belt and rehabilitation facilities.
• The land to the north of the existing refinery mainly in Kuthethur and Permude villages (around 850 acres) is proposed to be acquired for the new facilities and green belt. The balance land near Mulur & Kandavara villages is proposed to be acquired for rehabilitation purposes.
