Inaugural ceremony of the ONGC-MRPL Anniversary Wing of Government Lady Goschen Hospital was held on 2nd March 2019. Shri Sadananda Gowda, Hon’ble Minister for Chemicals & Fertilisers and Statistics & Programme Implementation (GoI) and Shri UT Khader, Hon’ble Minister for Urban Development and Housing & District i/c Minister DK (GoK) inaugurated the building. Shri Nalin Kumar Kateel, Hon’ble MP-DK district inaugurated the OPD department, Laboratory was inaugurated by Dr M Veerappa Moily, Chairman – Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance, Hon’ble MP – Chikkaballapura and X-ray & Scan section was inaugurated by Shri D Vedavyasa Kamath, Hon’ble MLA – Mangalore South. NICU was inaugurated by Shri R Rajamani, our retired MD.

 

Shri Ramanath Rai, Ex District in charge Minister, Shri Yogish Bhat, Ex MLA, Shri Amarnath Shetty, Ex Minister GoK, Smt. Meenakshi Shantigodu, President DKZP, Smt. Poornima, Corporator, Mangalore and Dr M Venkataraya Prabhu, Dean, KMC Mangaluru along with Shri M Venkatesh, MD MRPL and Dr Savitha, Medical Superintendent, Lady Goschen Hospital were among the dignitaries present. Retired Managing Directors of MRPL, namely Shri R Rajamani, Shri PPUpadhya and Shri H Kumar and Retd. Director Finance Shri Vishnu Agrawal were also present.

Shri BHV Prasad, GGM-HR welcomed the gathering. Shri M Venkatesh, MD MRPL briefed about ONGC and MRPL’s contribution to the project. He elaborated the history of this very old Maternity Hospital. This hospital has been the only women and child hospital in the district helping the poor and needy. The people of neighbouring districts also take the benefits of the hospital, he said. He thanked our parent company ONGC for contributing to this project.

Shri Sadananda Gowda spoke and said that in his public life he always gave importance to the primary health care. He thanked MRPL for the decision to contribute to construct the hospital building. He elaborated about some of the central government schemes including Ayushman Bharat and explained how benefits of these policies reach the poor.

Shri UT Khader, Hon’ble Minister GoK spoke on the occasion and said that the Lady Goschen hospital today is our pride. He thanked MRPL for bearing the entire expenditure of this hospital building. The kind of facility available in this hospital is not easily found in any other government hospital, he said. He concluded his speech with an appeal to MRPL to support the hospital in future too.

Dr M Veerappa Moily spoke on the occasion and elaborated on how MRPL came into being and grown over the years. He said that when he was the Petroleum Minister he encouraged MRPL to contribute to the construction of hospital building. He asked MRPL to adopt the hospital and take care of its requirements in future so that it would be a great service to the people of this region, he said.

Shri Nalin Kumar Kateel, Hon’ble MP spoke on the occasion and said that such a neat government hospital adds to the beauty of Mangalore. MRPL has donated crores of rupees for the development of DK district alone, he said.

Shri Ramanatha Rai, Shri Yogish Bhat and Shri M Venkataraya Prabhu, Dean – KMC, Mangaluru also spoke on the occasion. Shri Vedavyasa Kamath delivered his Presidential address. He said that we have to give importance to health care and build more such hospitals to help the needy especially women and children. He appreciated the noble work of MRPL through CSR and wished to continue the same in future.
