MRPL conducts Special Vendor Development Program for Micro and Small Enterprise (MSE) SC/ST Entrepreneurs

MRPL with MSME Development Institute, Bengaluru conducted a State Level Vendor Development Program for SC/ST Entrepreneurs (Buyer-Seller meet with specific emphasis on encouraging SC/ST entrepreneurs), on 10.02.2017 at Hotel JP Cordial, Bengaluru. Dignitaries from MSME DI Branch Bengaluru, Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DICCI) Bengaluru and NSIC Ltd Bengaluru participated in the program. Around 45 entrepreneurs participated in the program.

 

Shri. P.P. Chainulu, GM (IT & SAP), MRPL welcomed the gathering and spoke about salient features of public procurement and background of conducting Vendor development program for SC/ST Micro & Small Enterprises. He also urged the SC/ST MSEs to make best use of the platform and become partners in MRPL’s growth journey.

Shri. K. Socrates, Deputy Director, Branch MSME Development Institute Mangaluru elaborated on the efforts & initiatives taken by MSME & MRPL to organize the event.

Shri. Satish Chandra Gen. Secretary Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DICCI) Bengaluru encouraged SC/ST MSE Vendors to actively participate in the various tendering processes of MRPL.

Shri. Suman Santra, Dy. Manager- Business Development, NSIC Bangalore, explained the various schemes available under the NSIC, the financial assistance that can be availed for setting up of MSEs and also some of the discounts that can be availed by them for promotional tours they wish to undertake.

Chief Guest, Shri. S.N. Rangaprasad, Director, MSME Development Institute Bengaluru who delivered the keynote address spoke at length on various benefits offered by MSME DI to the SC/ST entrepreneurs and encouraged the participants to actively participate and avail the benefits offered by the Ministry of MSME.

Shri. K. Pownraj, Chief Manager (Materials), MRPL, gave a detailed presentation on MRPL tendering process, types of tender. He also gave details on various items/services that are regularly procured by MRPL along with estimated values of procurement which can be utilized by SC/ST entrepreneurs.

Shri. Venugopal V.J, Sr. Manager (Materials), MRPL, gave a presentation on avenues available for MSME SC/ST Vendors in MRPL. He also explained the nature of processes and inter-linkages with support departments against which the SC/ST MSEs can participate and contribute as stakeholders. Plant wise and department wise item requirements were elaborated.

Shri. K. Deveraj, Dy. Director, MSME Development Institute, Bengaluru, gave a presentation about MSME benefits & schemes that are offered to the MSE SC/ST Entrepreneurs.

The last session was an interactive one between SC/ST MSE’s and MRPL & MSME officers in which large number of vendors took active part. A great deal of clarity was provided by MRPL officials to various queries posed by the participants. For their convenience live demo was given on how to access MRPL website, identify different items generally procured by MRPL, view various tenders in process and how to register with MRPL and participate in the tendering process and submit offers online. The process of obtaining digital signatures was also explained.

The program was compered by Shri. Vishal Wilfred Abreo, Executive (Materials), MRPL and concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Shri. Pownraj.

 

Valedictory Programme of Oil & Gas Conservation Month

The Valedictory Ceremony of the Oil and Gas Conservation Month (OGCM)– Saksham 2017 was held in Training Centre on 15.2.2017. Shri SP Kamath, GM – Process welcomed the gathering and explained the significance of OGCM activities under the light of Climate Change and Global Warming. Shri Ravishankara K gave the overview of various activities carried out during the month. Then the experiences of Steam Leak Survey were shared by our Engineers Mr Raghavendra HS and Mr Roshan Dhakate. Mr Raghavendra had visited IOC Guwahati and Mr Roshan had visited IOC Gujarat as Steam Leak Auditors as a part of OGCM campaign. Smt. Veena Shetty, Manager - CSR gave the company’s CSR viewpoint with respect to the Smoke Free Campaign during the month.

 

Shri Koppalkar KS, GGM I/c Refinery spoke on the occasion and said that we should use more and more LED lamps and Solar power and minimize the usage of Oil and Gas. He shared the vision of our previous Petroleum Minister that India should aim at ‘Zero’ import of Crude Oil. Latest researches have found Fossil fuel reserves under the ocean bed which means it is not the end of fossil fuel, but still we need to conserve them, he concluded.

Shri Y Ravindranath, CVO spoke on the occasion and said that we need to explore other sources of energy. He expressed his happiness over improvement in reduction of steam leak in our Refinery. By the end of year 2035 our dependence on fossil fuel will come to a naught and electrical vehicles will replace all the existing gasoline vehicles, he concluded.

Shri M Venkatesh, Director Refinery said that we have been winning the Jawahar Lal Nehru Energy Conservation Award for last few years continuously till the time our Phase 3 was commissioned. He encouraged the team MRPL to aim for it next year. We are still the least operating cost Refiners because of the efforts of all the stakeholders, he said. He applauded the Technical Services Department for carrying out various activities during the month. God has given us opportunity to serve our people and we will do it through our company with full honesty and integrity, he concluded.

The ‘Stone Age’ was not over due to scarcity of stones, opined Shri V Nanda Kumar, DGM – Tech Serv. drawing a comparison while proposing Vote of Thanks. Shri Mannu Jha, Engineer – Tech Serv. compered the event and Shri Navinchandra Pai, Chief Manager – Tech Serv. conducted the prize distribution ceremony for the winners of different competitions.

 

 

 

 

Jokatte and Permude Grama Panchayats declared ‘Smoke Free’ – Saksham 2017

A campaign to declare our neighbouring villages Jokatte and Permude Grama Panchayats ‘Smoke Free’ was held on 15th February 2017 at MRPL Employees Club. Shri Abhay Chandra Jain, Hon’ble MLA, Mulki – Moodabidri, Shri M Venkatesh, Director Refinery, Shri Y Ravindranath, CVO, Smt. Vasanti Kishore, Member Zila Panchayat, Shri BS Basheer & Smt Shakunthala Shetty, Mangaluru Taluk Panchayat Members, Smt. Precilla & Smt. Saroja, Presidents of Jokatte & Permude Grama Panchayats and Shri Hasanabba, PDO joined for lighting of the lamp to inaugurate the programme.

 

As a part of Oil and Gas Conservation Month, MRPL has identified villages under four Grama Panchayats in its surroundings and decided to make them smoke free. In a programme held on 12th February 2017 the villages under Surinje and Chelairu were declared ‘Smoke Free’. Today (15.2.2017) about 100 families from Jokatte and Permude grama panchayats have been distributed the free LPG kits.

Smt. Precilla Monteiro and Smt. Saroja, the Presidents of Jokatte and Permude Grama Panchayats declared their respective Grama Panchayats ‘Smoke free’.

Inaugurating the program, Shri Abhay Chandra Jain thanked MRPL for turning the surrounding villages ‘Smoke Free’. The difficulties incurred by his mother in cooking food by making use of firewood are still fresh in his mind, said the Hon’ble MLA. He recollected the efforts of earlier leaders of the region in bringing MRPL to this area for the benefit of the local people. The state government has increased the quota of rice for the poor and MRPL has issued the free gas connections in its neighbourhood, both together should be able to solve the problem of the poor, he said. He applauded work of MRPL in different sectors and wished the company to carry out more such people friendly measures.

Shri M Venkatesh, our Director Refinery spoke on the occasion and expressed that turning village ‘Smoke Free’ is not the job of the Government and MRPL alone. Everyone needs to work together for their common good, he felt. He intimated that MRPL is on the verge of producing BS6 petrol and diesel which will bring down emission drastically. He informed the gathering that a ‘Public Hearing’ will be held on 27th of this month and appealed them to participate in the programme.

Chelairu and Soorinje Grama Panchayats declared ‘Smoke Free’ and MRPL Kaushal Vikas Kendra launched

MRPL’s Kaushal Vikas Kendra, was inaugurated and Smoke free village campaign was launched on 12th February 2017 at MRPL Employees Club by Shri Nalin Kumar Kateel, Hon’ble MP, Dakshina Kannada, in the presence of Shri Mohiuddin Bawa, Hon’ble MLA Mangalore North and Shri H Kumar, Managing Director. Director (Ref) Shri M Venkatesh, Director (F) Shri A K Sahoo, members of Team MRPL, other elected representatives and invited dignitaries, villagers of adjoining villages of Chelairu and Soorinje were present on the occasion.

 

As a part of Oil and Gas Conservation Month, MRPL has identified villages under four Grama Panchayats in its surroundings and decided to make them smoke free. Under this campaign, families in BPL (below poverty level) category have been identified and are given free LPG kits and gas stove. So far, these families have been using firewood or kerosene as fuel which will be replaced with LPG. MRPL is bearing the cost of the gas kit as well as the gas stove which is provided to these beneficiaries free of cost. In the first phase, about 200 families from Soorinje and Chelairu grama panchayats have been distributed the free kits. In the second phase on 15th February 2017, villagers from Permude and Jokatte grama panchayats will be given the free LPG kits.

The Presidents of Soorinje and Chelairu Grama Panchayats declared their villages namely, Cheliaru, Madhya, Soorinje & Delantabettu as ‘Smoke free’.

Inaugurating the program, Shri Nalin Kumar Kateel emphasized the need to light the lamp of prosperity and knowledge in every home and every village drawing from the vision of Gandhiji, Father of the Nation and Swami Vivekananda who pointed out every person as a unit for Nation Building. Complimenting MRPL on launching MRPL Kaushal Vikas Kendra, he said that this is a wonderful opportunity for talented youth to further their career. He pointed out that Central government under Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi is committed to building and transforming India and therefore the emphasis on many schemes such as Swachh Bharat Mission, Skill India, Digital India, Start-up India and Make in India. He complimented MRPL for its efforts towards Smoke Free Villages and Kaushal Vikas Kendra. He said that he will support all such initiatives of MRPL which are aimed towards development of the surrounding areas.

Shri Mohiuddin Bawa said that he will wholeheartedly support MRPL Kaushal Vikas Kendra (MRPL KVK) as it will generate more job opportunities to the unemployed youth in the region. He promised help in sanctioning 10 acres of land for setting up the MRPL Kaushal VIkas Kendra for the benefit of people of Dakshina Kannada.

Shri H Kumar, Managing Director, said MRPL is committed to support the National development schemes of Government of India and Smoke free village campaign and MRPL Kaushal Vikas Kendra are testimony to its commitment. He elaborated on the Skilling Programme announced earlier. ‘The First Batch of 60 youth will be trained in partnership with NTTF in two trades: Industrial Electrician and CNC Operator-Turning’, he said. All expenses including food, lodging, tutorial expenses, clothing in the form of uniform, will be borne by MRPL Kaushal Vikas Kendra (KVK), he said. On successful completion, Certificate will be issued and candidates with no mobility constraint will be placed by NTTF, he said. He also announced that MRPL has got the approval to launch a start-up fund of Rs.10 Crores which will be used to support the new ventures/ startups of the youth.

MRPL Q3 FY 2016-17 RESULTS - MRPL POSTS INCREASED GRM AND PROFITS

The Board of Directors of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited, today approved its un-audited financial results for the third quarter of Financial Year 2016-17.

MRPL, posted a gross revenue of Rs.15,740 Crore for the 3 months period, October to December 2016 (Q3 FY 2016-17) which is up by 41% as compared to Rs.11,193 Crore in the corresponding quarter of FY 2015-16. The increase in Gross Revenue is mainly due to increase in the throughput by 14% and also increase in the product prices by around 5% in the reporting quarter compared to previous quarter prices.
